Music plays a very important part in a funeral service and at Roucan Loch we have superb acoustics creating the perfect atmosphere for your favourite tune. Our chapel has a hearing loop system installed.
Our organists are accomplished musicians and are happy to perform a piece of music, although we kindly request it is given to them at least 2 days in advance of the Funeral Service.
Our sound systems use CD’s. Ideally we would prefer original, new CD’s for the service as this limits the chances of a fault occurring with the disc. When providing a CD to be used for a service it must be given to your funeral director at least 2 days before the service to allow time to test it on the sound system. Unfortunately we can not accept music on MP3 or memory stick due to the risk of airing inappropriate material.
The Roucan Loch hymn book contains 50 well known hymns (see below). This is by no means an exhaustive list and you may choose any hymn you like.
Inviting a musician along to perform a favourite piece of music can introduce a unique dimension to the service.
Ruth Jardine, the Crematorium Manager and Professional Funeral Celebrant is also an accomplished flautist and regularly provides music at services. Tunes such as Highland Cathedral, Annie’s Song, Somewhere over the Rainbow, Danny Boy, The Dark Island, Pie Jesu or Ave Maria can be cleverly woven into a service to provide a truly unique experience for mourners.

Abide with me
All people that on earth do dwell
All things bright and beautiful
Amazing grace
And did those feet in ancient time
Away in a Manger
Battle hymn of the republic
(Mine eyes have seen the Glory)
Be still for the presence of the Lord
Be still my soul
Be thou my vision
By cool Siloam’s shady rill
Dear Lord and Father of mankind
Eternal Father strong to save
For the beauty of the earth
Give me joy in my heart
Great is thy faithfulness
Guide me, O Thou Great Jehovah
How great thou art
I to the hills will lift mine eyes
I vow to thee my country
I watch the sunrise
Immortal invisible, God only wise
In the bleak mid-winter
Just as I am
Lord of all hopefulness
Lord of the dance
Love divine
Make me a channel of your peace
Morning has broken
Nearer, my God, to Thee
Now thank we all our God
O God of Bethel
O love that wilt not let me go
O perfect love
One more step
Onward Christian soldiers
Praise my soul the King of Heaven
Rock of ages
Tell out my soul
The day thou gavest
The King of love my Shepherd is
The Lord’s my Shepherd
The old rugged cross
There is a green hill far away
Thine be the glory
This little light of mine
We plough the fields and scatter
What a friend we have in Jesus
Who would true valour see
Will your anchor hold
