A popular option and due to high demand there is limited availability of memorial trees. Our grounds staff will help you to select a tree. If available, you may prefer a rowan or birch close to the loch or perhaps a fir tree in the Forest of Remembrance or a fruit tree in the orchard.

Memory Lane, Lakeland Slate Path

A personalised memorial plaque for the tree will be provided and your loved one’s ashes may be interred at the base of the tree.

Memorial Tree in the Jubilee Wood
You may select a tree from our very special Jubilee Wood. This peaceful area at the top of the loch was planted in 2012 to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. A pastoral site with views across Roucan Loch with the added bonus of a tranquil stream flowing by.

Rhododendron Bush

Final Journey into Roucan Loch
For those who wish their ashes to be laid to rest in Roucan Loch.

The Journey Urn is beautifully handcrafted from sustainably produced and biodegradable paper and wildflowers. Ashes are placed inside for water interment.

Our Funeral Celebrant will conduct a short service for close family from our platform on Roucan Loch, before the Journey Urn is placed in the water, floating briefly before gracefully sinking to its final resting place.

Final Journey is ideally combined with an engraved paviour in Memory Lane, ensuring a lasting memorial to your loved one.

Release of Memorial Fish into Roucan Loch
A delightful memorial option unique to Roucan Loch, giving you the opportunity to release two indigenous brown trout in memory of your loved one.

Fish release is ideally combined with an engraved paviour in Memory Lane, ensuring a lasting memorial to your loved one.

The Memorial Lodge

Inscription in the Book of Remembrance
Our Book of Remembrance is located in the comfortable Memorial Lodge which is separate from the main building. An inscription provides a permanent memorial and a beautiful and lasting tribute to someone who has been very special in your life. The entries themselves are inscribed by highly skilled calligraphers and talented artists in London. Examples of the original artwork are available to view at our town centre office.

The wording is personalised and may include an emblem or motif. All entries in the Book of Remembrance are also available to view on our touch-screen Book of Remembrance which is also housed in the Memorial Lodge and allows access to records during opening hours.

Personalised Brass Memorial Leaf
This unique memorial allows a personalised engraved brass leaf to be placed on the Memorial Tree. The tree is located in the wooden Memorial Lodge which has a cosy feel to it and contains reading material for those who wish some quiet time to reflect. The lodge is light and airy and is akin to a mountain log-cabin.

Memorial Benches
There is limited availability of attractive wooden Memorial Benches within the Gardens of Remembrance. Please enquire for current availability.

Children’s Garden – Engraved Lakeland Paviour
An engraved Lakeland Paviour will be sited in the Children’s Garden. Ashes may be interred beneath paviours in this area.

This memorial option will remain in place for the life of the stone.

Interment of ashes in the Peace Garden
The peace garden is divided into months from January – December and ashes will be interred in the appropriate section.

Bespoke Memorials
We also offer bespoke memorials for your loved one. If you wish to discuss an exclusive memorial, such as a bench, wooden carving or willow sculpture, please contact Ruth Jardine by email at ruth@roucanloch.co.uk.

Christmas Memorial Services

At Christmas time, we offer recently bereaved families the opportunity to attend one of our Christmas Memorial Services. The memorial services incorporate poetry, music and readings and allow people to reflect on their loss at Christmas time and to gather together for mulled wine and mince pies. In addition the Star of Hope Service is held in early December, when we light up a special star on the island in memory of the departed. The star remains lit throughout December.

Full details of these services are sent out to families before Christmas.
